Days after Trump and Putin met in Alaska, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with President Donald Trump at the White House. They talked about the infamous and protracted conflict with Russia as well as other political issues with other leaders.Donald Trump allegedly hand-delivered a letter from Melania Trump to Vladimir Putin on Saturday.
Melania allegedly asks Putin in the letter to spare the defenseless children from death, displacement, or kidnapping. “Some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them, a silent defiance against the forces that could claim their future,” she wrote in the letter, which generated quite a sensation. Putin should bring back their melodic laughter, she suggested.
I would like to express my gratitude to @FLOTUSMelania Trump for drawing attention to one of the most agonizing and challenging aspects of this conflict: Russia’s kidnapping of Ukrainian children. Her message to Putin and her sympathy are greatly appreciated.

According to The Irish Star, despite Melania’s absence, Zelensky personally replied to the letter she gave to Putin after her gesture profoundly moved him. “She sent a letter to President Putin about our children, the abducted children, and my wife, the First Lady of Ukraine, has sent a letter in response,” he stated, thanking Melania for her advocacy.
Zelensky grinned and said to Trump, “She gave it to your wife, not to you.” With a humorous “I want it” response, Trump caused the crowd to erupt in laughter. Zelensky thanked Melania on social media after the meeting, writing: Your voice matters. It provides courage and highlights the injustice of Russia’s abduction of more than 20,000 Ukrainian children. We are still working to return them, as well as all of our civilians and prisoners of war, to their homes.

Melania Trump is well-known for supporting child-related initiatives. She was present when the Take It Down Act, a law designed to shield kids from online abuse, was signed into law in May 2025. She has a strong bond with children and is a wonderful mother to her 19-year-old son, Barron, who is a student at New York University.
BEAUTIFUL: President Trump just disclosed that First Lady Melania’s peace letter was motivated by her intense love for children.
I’ve known a lot of famous individuals, but no family loves our nation more than the Trump family.
Bless them. God’s gifts!0Y5yEER3WI pic.twitter.com/

The Guardian stated that Trump indicated plans to enable a direct meeting between Putin and Zelensky, although few other details of the summit have been made public. Putin’s desire to meet within two weeks was even verified by Friedrich Merz, the chancellor of Germany. However, other summit leaders expressed skepticism, with the president of Finland warning that Putin is rarely reliable.
Trump also stated that the United States is prepared to coordinate efforts to give Ukraine long-term security guarantees and rejected a rapid ceasefire as a top priority. In addition, Trump claimed to have resolved six international wars during his presidency, and he referred to himself as the global peacemaker.
As he continued to claim credit for his arduous efforts to improve the relationship between Russia and Ukraine and to try to stop the war, his desire for a Nobel Peace Prize served as a driving force behind the summit. Finally, according to reports, Zelenskyy consented to a $90 billion arms deal with the United States, which was mainly for aircraft and air defense systems.
Given that Donald Trump called the meeting “extremely productive,” it appears that it ended well. Trump continued, “There were a lot of things that we agreed on, most of them.” We’ve made some progress, but there are still a few major ones. Until there is a deal, there is no deal.
